General Manager – Pharma (Oman)

About the role

Lead the Oman pharmaceutical business across commercial, retail pharmacy, tender, regulatory, purchasing and support functions. The General Manager is accountable for the overall plan, profit and loss performance, compliance, leadership development and business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Own the annual Oman business plan, budget, sales forecast and profit and loss performance, setting clear targets and reviewing progress with the CEO.
• Grow revenue and margin across distribution, institutional tenders, private sales and retail pharmacy, identifying new principals, products and channels.
• Build senior relationships with principals and healthcare customers, lead major negotiations and resolve material issues.
• Direct sales, tender, market access, retail pharmacy, regulatory affairs and purchasing leaders to deliver agreed plans, bids, launches and customer service.
• Oversee demand planning, stock availability, warehousing and distribution, managing expiry, slow‑moving stock, working capital and service levels.
• Review pricing, margin, collections and key contracts, acting early when results are off plan.
• Lead the Oman management team across commercial, finance, HR, quality, compliance, IT and operations, setting priorities and developing successors.
• Ensure compliance with Oman healthcare, pharmacy, employment and financial regulations, with effective controls and risk escalation.
• Drive Omanisation, hiring and retention plans in partnership with HR while maintaining capability to grow the business.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, business or a related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• At least 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare distribution, including significant leadership experience in Oman.
• Strong local network with principals, healthcare customers and relevant stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage a profit and loss statement, build commercial plans and negotiate with principals.
• Clear communication and sound judgment; fluent English, Arabic strongly preferred.
