Head of Department – Business Studies

About the role

Raffles Education is seeking a highly qualified and internationally educated professional to lead its Business Studies Department in Muscat. The role involves strategic oversight of academic programmes, staff performance and quality assurance to maintain the institution’s prestigious reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the development and assessment of departmental delivery plans and programmes, identifying obstacles and proposing solutions.
• Oversee department operations, monitor teaching and technical staff performance, and collaborate with Heads of Sections on student procedures.
• Implement quality‑assurance measures across academic programmes.
• Propose academic research plans and coordinate annual departmental activities.
• Provide academic counselling support to students.
• Define criteria and specifications for departmental examinations.
• Identify staffing, equipment and material needs; supervise specification setting with section heads.
• Prepare and submit minutes of Departmental Council meetings to the Dean.
• Ensure health and safety compliance in laboratories and workshops.
• Evaluate staff and section heads, forwarding appraisal forms to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

Required profile

• Doctorate degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting or Marketing.
• Approximately 10 years of teaching experience.
• Experience in a similar senior academic role is highly desirable.
• Industrial experience is also encouraged.
