Lead Process Engineer Central - Aromatic Units

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Process Engineer to oversee the aromatic units at our refinery in Sohar, Oman. The role involves leading feasibility, FEED and EPC studies, driving process and energy optimisation, and ensuring reliable operation of complex units such as aromizers, naphtha hydrotreaters and specialty chemical plants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead feasibility, FEED and EPC studies for new and existing aromatic projects.
• Direct process optimisation and energy‑saving initiatives across multiple units.
• Prepare technical evaluations for chemicals, catalysts and tender scopes.
• Review and verify P&ID, PFD, engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
• Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and internal engineering for FAT, SAT, RCM and HAZOP activities.
• Manage budgeting, cost control and data integrity for asset master data.
• Support turnaround planning and minor plant modifications through heat and material balances.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in oil & gas, refinery or petrochemical engineering.
• Proven background with aromatic units (aromizer, naphtha hydrotreater, Morphylane, XyMax, Eluxyl, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of process safety, H2S awareness and emergency response.
• Experience in contract management, vendor coordination and technical documentation.
