Plant General Manager – Operations & Maintenance

About the role

The Plant General Manager provides overall direction to plant teams, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operations that deliver uninterrupted power and water supply while maximizing revenue and meeting contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align the plant strategy with ACWA NOMAC’s Operations and Maintenance objectives.
• Prepare and manage the operating budget, monitor financial performance and ensure revenue and profitability targets are met.
• Lead production planning, translating operational strategy into short‑term production schedules and optimizing plant availability.
• Direct operations and maintenance teams, provide technical guidance, oversee root‑cause investigations and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee supply‑chain activities, approve purchase requisitions and ensure timely availability of materials and services.
• Guide the implementation and adherence to SAP processes for production planning, scheduling and material movement.
• Implement and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) and ensure compliance with certifications and audits.
• Ensure health, safety, security and environmental compliance across the plant.
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Project Company, OEMs and regulators.
• Lead people management, set objectives, develop talent and monitor performance of 7‑10 direct and up to 250 indirect reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 12‑15 years of experience managing a power or water‑desalination production plant.
• Strong techno‑commercial knowledge of contracts and agreements.
• Proven leadership, planning and analytical abilities.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
