About the role
The PLC Specialist will lead package PLC and ICSS interface activities during the commissioning and start‑up of a large on‑shore LNG bunkering facility. Working within the commissioning team, you will ensure that automation systems are safely integrated, fully validated and ready for operation.
Key responsibilities
- Review and validate PLC architectures, control logic, cause‑and‑effect matrices and narratives.
- Integrate PLC systems with DCS/ICSS, including PCS, SIS, FGS, networks and historians.
- Supervise FAT, SAT, SIT and operational test procedures, defining acceptance criteria.
- Monitor contractor execution of PLC commissioning and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Troubleshoot PLC, instrumentation and communication/network issues during commissioning and early operations.
- Support energisation, loop checks, start‑up sequencing and system stabilisation.
- Verify start‑up readiness of alarms, bypasses, backups, communications, diagnostics and as‑built software.
- Coordinate multi‑discipline teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) on site and support hand‑over to operations, including documentation and training.
- Ensure HSE, cybersecurity and SIL compliance throughout all activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Engineering (Automation, Control Systems or equivalent).
- 15+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry, including LNG projects.
- 10+ years in PLC/package coordination roles within commissioning environments.
- Strong hands‑on expertise with major PLC vendors (Emerson, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Honeywell, Rockwell, Foxboro).
- Proven experience in LNG plant commissioning and start‑up phases.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken.

- ICSS/DCS/SIS integration.
- Industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- FAT/SAT/SIT test planning and execution.
- Start‑up sequencing and system stabilisation.
- Troubleshooting of PLC, instrumentation and network issues.
- Package systems coordination in EPC environments.
- HSE, cybersecurity and SIL compliance knowledge.
