Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Field Instrument Supervisor

About the role

The Pre‑Commissioning & Commissioning Field Instrument Supervisor leads all field instrumentation activities during the pre‑commissioning and commissioning phases of large process facilities. The role ensures safe, efficient installation, testing, calibration, loop checking and hand‑over of instrumentation systems in line with project specifications and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise field instrumentation work, including installation checks, calibration, testing and reinstatement during pre‑commissioning.
• Review and execute pre‑commissioning procedures, check‑sheets and test records; coordinate loop checking, functional testing and punch‑listing.
• Verify correct installation and readiness of instruments, control valves, analyzers and related systems against drawings and vendor documents.
• Support cold and hot commissioning activities, troubleshoot instrumentation issues, perform logic checks and cause‑and‑effect testing.
• Ensure timely closure of punch items and smooth system hand‑over to operations.
• Enforce HSE policies, conduct toolbox talks and guarantee accurate commissioning documentation.
• Supervise technicians and subcontractors, report daily progress and interface with construction, QA/QC and client representatives.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of field instrumentation experience, preferably on oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical or other large process plant projects.
• Hands‑on experience with pressure, temperature, flow and level instruments, control valves, actuators, analyzers and packaged units.
• Strong knowledge of loop checking, functional testing, commissioning procedures, system turnover and punch management.
• Valid HSE certification (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) preferred and familiarity with IEC, ISA and API standards.
• Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, hookups and wiring diagrams; experience with DCS/PLC systems in a commissioning environment.
