Psychiatrist (Addiction & Mental Health)

About the role

Salwa Healthcare, an addiction recovery hospital in Sohar, Oman, is seeking a Psychiatrist to join its multidisciplinary team. Working under the guidance of the Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with addiction‑related and co‑occurring mental health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Prescribe, monitor and adjust psychiatric medications in collaboration with the senior psychiatrist.
• Deliver individual and group psychiatric sessions as part of an integrated care model.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, clinical meetings and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS, MD or equivalent) with a qualification in Psychiatry.
• 2‑3 years of experience in medicine/psychiatry, preferably in addiction or behavioral health settings.
• Eligibility for licensure or registration in Oman.
• Commitment to trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive and non‑discriminatory care.
• Strong teamwork, communication and accountability.

Required skills

• Psychiatric assessment and diagnosis.
• Treatment planning and medication management for addiction‑related disorders.
• Collaboration with psychologists, counselors, nurses and social workers.
