Refractory Maintenance Senior Engineer

About the role

The Refractory Maintenance Senior Engineer will lead the development of process routes for mineral projects and introduce new, safe and proactive methodologies for refractory maintenance. The role focuses on increasing equipment availability and productivity while ensuring high quality and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Create inspection and preventive maintenance plans for refractory activities.
• Develop and support scopes of work for specialized execution during cold shutdowns and for refractory material acquisition.
• Conduct failure analysis and define refractory activities during shutdowns.
• Improve refractory lifecycle, manage waste discharge, and set standards aligned with health and safety guidelines.
• Prepare and evaluate budgets, KPIs, and cost‑efficiency indexes for the area.
• Mentor junior staff, analyze performance data, and suggest reliability‑focused solutions.
• Prepare contract SOWs, review technical proposals, and manage spare‑parts availability.
• Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, JSA & SOP documents, and ensure compliance with HSE and IMS policies.
• Monitor and update the refractory maintenance plan using historical data, MTBF analysis, and equipment performance reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience in refractory maintenance within industrial or mineral processing environments.
• Strong ability to design and implement preventive maintenance strategies.
• Excellent analytical skills for failure analysis, KPI tracking, and MTBF evaluation.
• Experience in budgeting, contract management, and technical proposal assessment.
• Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Leadership capability to mentor teams and drive continuous improvement.
