Relay Testing & Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About the role

Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG is looking for an experienced Relay Testing & Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our team in Oman.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out testing and commissioning of electrical and substation equipment.
• Perform numerical relay testing and protection/control panel testing.
• Verify protection schemes, interlocks and system functionality.
• Conduct testing of transformers, CTs, VTs, GIS and switchyard equipment.
• Review drawings, specifications and testing requirements.
• Identify and resolve testing and commissioning issues.
• Prepare testing, commissioning and related technical reports.
• Coordinate with project teams, vendors, consultants and clients during commissioning activities.
• Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety and technical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in relay testing and electrical commissioning.
• Experience in testing and commissioning of protection and control systems.
• Hands‑on experience with numerical relays, protection/control panels, transformers, CTs, VTs, GIS and switchyard equipment.
• Good knowledge of interlock and protection scheme verification.
• Understanding of electrical testing standards, IEC/BS standards and protection system schemes.
• Experience in identifying and resolving issues during testing and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of testing procedures, commissioning documentation and reporting.
• PDO approval is required.
