Saw Operator – Submerged Arc Welding

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Saw Operator with a strong background in submerged arc welding to join our production team in Oman. The role involves setting up and operating saw‑welding equipment, ensuring high‑quality welds, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Configure machine parameters according to the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), including current, voltage, wire feed speed and travel speed.
• Manage flux type, ensure the hopper is full and positioned correctly for consistent delivery.
• Inspect the submerged arc tractor, carriage or boom, verify proper grounding and wire feeding.
• Prepare joints: secure, clean and align work pieces, especially large components.
• Initiate and control the arc, manage stop/crater fill to avoid defects.
• Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE and ensure adequate ventilation.
• Dispose of hot flux and slag safely in designated bins.
• Perform routine maintenance on the tractor, wire feeder and flux handling equipment.
• Never leave a running sub‑arc machine unattended.
• Interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating submerged arc saw equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and welding symbols.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and proper PPE usage.
• Understanding of flux‑wire combinations and their impact on mechanical properties.
