Secondary Economics Teacher

About the role

The International School of Choueifat – Muscat is seeking a qualified Secondary Economics Teacher to deliver the SABIS® curriculum to high‑school students. The role involves fostering academic achievement and supporting student development in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Mark examinations according to departmental schedules and guidelines.
• Deliver lessons using provided plans or develop plans based on pacing charts, applying the SABIS® point system.
• Discuss disciplinary and performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller and Head of Department.
• Implement the SABIS® point system to maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Invigilate exams and ensure proper exam conditions.
• Provide additional support to low‑performing students to improve motivation and results.
• Prepare students for external examinations by reviewing past papers and following structured revision schedules.
• Assist with duties such as testing, substitute teaching, organizing lunches and transport, traffic control, and other administrative tasks as assigned.
• Participate in student‑life activities, including art, open house, and physical education events, in coordination with the student‑life coordinator.
• Attend training sessions to deepen understanding of the SABIS® system and enhance teaching performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a related field (or equivalent).
• Proficient or native English language skills.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Team‑oriented work attitude.
• Ability to meet all local education, certification, reference, and background‑check requirements.
