Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead vendor engineering delivery for mineral and metal processing facilities. You will ensure design quality, manage interfaces, and support constructability across belt conveyor systems, stock houses, cooling water networks and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve package contractor drawings and documents for belt conveyors, hoppers, screens, feeders and cooling water systems.
• Validate interface compatibility with other discipline designs and drive constructability checks.
• Guide equipment selection, specification and detailed design in collaboration with design teams.
• Participate in HAZOP and other safety reviews, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards.
• Oversee vendor performance to meet project schedule and quality targets.
• Maintain adherence to the company’s Quality Assurance system and OH&S procedures.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 14+ years of experience in the minerals and metals industry.
• Proven experience with material handling equipment such as belt conveyors, hoppers, screens and feeders.
• Experience in pelletising plants or iron‑ore beneficiation facilities is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
