Senior Process Safety Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a one‑year secondment on the NGLE Project in Muscat, Oman. You will lead process safety engineering activities across the full project lifecycle, from front‑end engineering design (FEED) through construction, commissioning and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and oversee all Process Safety Engineering tasks within the NGLE project scope.
• Lead detailed design of process safety systems, ensuring technical and economic optimisation.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety and Operations Philosophy documents.
• Monitor quality‑assurance programmes to guarantee compliance with project requirements and asset‑owner standards.
• Contribute to FEED studies and support the development of optimal business strategies.
• Coordinate with the Project Delivery Skill‑pool to assign appropriate process safety resources.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in the oil & gas industry, particularly in refinery and petrochemical environments.
• Proven track record in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and commissioning phases.
• Strong understanding of brownfield and greenfield project challenges.
• Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams.
