Senior System Engineer – Oman

About the role

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to lead the design, implementation and ongoing management of our IT infrastructure in Oman. The role combines hands‑on technical work with project leadership and mentorship of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain servers, storage, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V), network devices, firewalls and endpoint systems.
• Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Microsoft 365 and cloud services (Azure/AWS).
• Monitor performance, availability and capacity to ensure high availability and business continuity.
• Implement and test backup, disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity solutions.
• Configure, troubleshoot and harden network infrastructure, including switches, routers, VPNs, wireless and firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco).
• Provide Level 3 support, resolve complex infrastructure issues and oversee patch management.
• Lead infrastructure projects, system migrations, upgrades and technology refreshes.
• Coordinate with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders to meet SLA requirements.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams and operational procedures.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives, endpoint protection and vulnerability response.
• Manage IT assets, software licences, warranties and vendor contracts.
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience managing enterprise‑wide IT infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead projects and drive technology upgrades.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Willingness to mentor and develop junior team members.
