Shift Engineer

About the role

The Shift Engineer is responsible for overseeing operational activities during each shift, ensuring the plant meets production targets while maintaining safety, efficiency and compliance with company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise shift team to achieve production targets while ensuring compliance with policies, processes and safety standards.
• Monitor plant performance, review SOPs and work instructions, and take corrective actions to optimise operations and resolve abnormalities.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct special testing programmes and analyse process data to prevent recurrence of issues.
• Coordinate with maintenance, other departments and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution of commissioning, start‑up and other activities.
• Administer SAP processes for planning, scheduling, breakdown review and work‑order creation, maintaining data integrity.
• Ensure health, safety, security and environmental procedures are followed and manage emergencies according to the company response plan.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years experience in water desalination and power generation plants, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven people‑management and mentoring abilities.
• Strong planning, organising and integration skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of water desalination and power generation plant equipment.
• Working knowledge of SAP (preferred).
• Familiarity with the New IMS system (preferred).
• Project management experience.
