Technical and Process Manager, Biogas and Biogas-to-Energy

About the role

Veolia Oman delivers integrated water, waste and energy services across the country, supporting national infrastructure such as drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste. This Technical and Process Manager oversees the operation, optimization, construction, commissioning and performance of landfill gas, biogas-to-energy and leachate treatment systems across all Veolia sites in Oman, with regional operational leadership, project management, HSE and environmental compliance, maintenance coordination, budget management and resource planning.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee landfill gas collection, gas treatment, flaring and biogas utilization, and lead biogas-to-energy projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning, handover and operation.
• Lead the construction, testing, commissioning and handover of new biogas, gas treatment, flaring and biogas-to-energy systems, and new leachate treatment plants, ensuring compliance with designs, quality standards and HSE procedures.
• Manage operation and maintenance of gas wells, pipelines, blowers, condensate systems, flares, treatment equipment and energy recovery systems, and coordinate maintenance teams, contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits and HSE standards, control risks such as methane emissions, gas leaks, fires and spills, and run emergency response plans and drills.
• Establish regional reporting requirements, review operational data and prepare technical, environmental, project and management reports.
• Prepare and manage operating, maintenance, project and capital budgets, and identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction and energy recovery.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in landfill gas, biogas-to-energy, leachate treatment or waste-to-energy operations and projects.
• Experience managing teams, contractors, budgets and multi-site operations.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage. Willingness to travel between sites.

Required skills
