Cyber Security Manager – Oman

About the role

The Cyber Security Manager will lead the cybersecurity function for HSBC's Oman branch, reporting to the regional Chief Information Security Officer. The role is responsible for defining and delivering an industry‑leading cybersecurity service, ensuring compliance with local regulations and supporting global and regional security initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with global, regional and country technology representatives to deliver objectives within policies, budgetary limits and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of a strategic, comprehensive enterprise cybersecurity management programme.
• Support business technology planning by providing insight into current capabilities and future technology direction.
• Contribute to country and regional cybersecurity strategy, protecting the bank’s technology environment while upholding HSBC’s values.
• Coordinate and deliver cybersecurity training and awareness sessions for employees.
• Set performance objectives for direct reports and support their professional development.
• Communicate the country’s cybersecurity risk profile and promote appropriate risk mitigation actions.
• Monitor the evolving threat landscape and brief senior management on security posture and emerging threats.
• Ensure timely implementation of country‑specific regulatory requirements through appropriate controls, policies and standards.
• Lead cybersecurity committee meetings and maintain strong relationships with the Central Bank and other regulators.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience in IT security governance and operational processes, preferably within financial services.
• Proven experience in risk management and audit within a security context.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, able to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Positive, professional attitude; flexible, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Self‑motivated with a commitment to continuous professional development.
