Lead Project Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join its Projects team in Sohar, Oman. The role will drive the front‑end engineering (FEED) and detailed design phases for on‑shore oil and gas projects, ensuring technical excellence and strategic delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the FEED and detailed design scopes, developing optimal strategies to meet technical requirements.
• Ensure safety and quality control procedures are applied throughout design execution.
• Participate in pre‑ and post‑contract award discussions with asset owners to define user requirements.
• Monitor project deliverables, conduct progress reviews and resolve execution challenges.
• Supervise site activities to verify accuracy of project progress.
• Guide and mentor junior engineers on technical matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience in on‑shore oil and gas project engineering, covering both brownfield and greenfield opportunities.
• Strong understanding of FEED and detailed design processes.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate with stakeholders.
• Commitment to safety, quality and diversity and inclusion principles.
