Oracle Database Administrator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimise our enterprise Oracle environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, and security across multiple platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, monitor and tune Oracle databases to guarantee performance, availability and security.
• Manage Oracle Data Guard environments, including standby databases, failover and switchover operations.
• Perform Oracle 9i/10g/11g cluster installation, administration and failover management (5‑6 years hands‑on required).
• Implement and support active‑passive clustering technologies for high availability.
• Design and execute backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and OS‑level methods.
• Operate databases on SUN Sparc, IBM AIX and HP‑UX platforms.
• Troubleshoot issues, apply patch upgrades and ensure data integrity.
• Coordinate with application, development and infrastructure teams on database‑related projects.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of configurations, procedures and recovery plans.

Required profile

• 12+ years of overall Oracle database administration experience.
• 5‑6 years of hands‑on experience with Oracle 9i/10g/11g cluster installation and failover.
• Strong experience managing Oracle Data Guard environments.
• Proven expertise with active‑passive clustering, backup/recovery and performance tuning.
• Experience on SUN Sparc, IBM AIX and HP‑UX platforms.
• Oracle certifications such as OCP or OCM.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
