Project Director – Large‑Scale Port Development

About the role

Mace is seeking a senior Project Director to lead the delivery of a state‑of‑the‑art port facility that will handle millions of tonnes of bulk cargo each year. This high‑visibility programme combines marine infrastructure, landside logistics, transportation links and utilities, and will be a cornerstone of regional economic diversification.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team and act as the primary client interface.
• Provide strategic oversight across port, marine and mine delivery components.
• Drive multidisciplinary coordination and ensure effective site execution.
• Review and approve key deliverables, maintaining programme alignment.
• Oversee critical procurement activities and manage package interfaces.
• Ensure full compliance with contractual, technical and delivery standards.
• Lead executive reporting and client governance forums.
• Champion net‑zero carbon transition goals throughout delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering (post‑graduate in marine or related discipline preferred).
• 20+ years of experience, including 10+ years in port and marine design.
• Proven leadership on at least two large‑scale port projects.
• Strong track record delivering complex infrastructure programmes.
• Effective communicator with analytical capability and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
