SCMS/RTU Commissioning Engineer

About the role

The SCMS/RTU Commissioning Engineer will lead the installation and commissioning of Substation Automation Systems for medium‑complexity projects. You will act as the primary Hitachi Energy representative on site, ensuring all activities meet safety, quality, and contractual standards.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the commissioning function in project and design review meetings.
• Develop work plans, cost estimates and manage the commissioning schedule.
• Coordinate site activities to achieve customer acceptance certification.
• Manage external contractors, issue permits to work and enforce health‑safety requirements.
• Coach associate commissioning engineers and oversee a small commissioning team.
• Prepare as‑built documentation and obtain utility approvals for SAS systems.
• Provide lessons‑learned feedback to improve project processes and system design.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Experience delivering 2–3 commissioning projects per year.
• Strong knowledge of substation automation systems and RTU communication protocols.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
