Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotary (1‑year secondment)

About the role

Wood is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Rotary for a one‑year secondment in Muscat, Oman. The role focuses on mechanical and rotating engineering activities across EPC, commissioning and operation phases within the oil & gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Apply mechanical rotating engineering practices, standards and design codes (e.g., ASME, API).
• Challenge project design assumptions and drive value‑engineering initiatives.
• Provide innovative solutions to meet cost and schedule targets while maintaining compliance.
• Assist and review engineering deliverables from the mechanical team.
• Compile and analyse contractor reports using relevant engineering standards.
• Lead and participate in engineering review meetings, recording decisions and actions.
• Coordinate engineering reviews and ensure proper documentation turnover.
• Support equipment selection and procurement processes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level mechanical engineer with hands‑on EPC, commissioning and operation experience in oil & gas.
• Background in refinery or petrochemical projects.
• Proven ability to lead technical reviews and deliver engineering solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with industry design codes.
