Senior Oracle & SQL Server Database Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to manage Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments for mission‑critical applications in Muscat, Oman. The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security and disaster recovery in a 24x7 production setting.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer and maintain Oracle (10g, 11g, 12c, 19c) and Microsoft SQL Server 2018 databases.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and apply tuning strategies.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, disaster‑recovery and high‑availability solutions.
• Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, GoldenGate, HP Serviceguard and Veritas Cluster Server.
• Perform upgrades, migrations, patching and capacity planning.
• Ensure database security, user management, encryption and compliance.
• Develop and optimise SQL, PL/SQL and T‑SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, triggers and packages.
• Support production databases with proactive monitoring, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Build and maintain ETL processes using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and IBM DataStage.
• Collaborate with application teams to optimise performance and scalability.
• Create business reports and dashboards with Power BI, SAP BusinessObjects and Tableau.
• Participate in architecture reviews and recommend best practices.
• Manage source code with Git and SVN and support CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps.
• Maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
• Provide on‑call support for production environments as required.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing Oracle (10g‑19c) and Microsoft SQL Server 2018 environments.
• Proven expertise in high‑availability and disaster‑recovery solutions such as RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate and clustering technologies.
• Strong background in performance tuning, backup/recovery, capacity planning and security.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑enabled data platforms and ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Databricks, IBM DataStage).
• Ability to work on‑call and support 24x7 production systems.
• Effective collaboration with development and business teams.
