Site Supervisor (Breakwater Engineer)

About the role

The client, a leading international engineering and consulting group, is seeking an experienced Breakwater Engineer to act as Site Supervisor for a port breakwater project in Oman. The role involves on‑site supervision of marine works, ensuring technical compliance, construction quality, and safety throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise construction of breakwater and related coastal protection structures in line with contract specifications and approved designs.
• Monitor material quality, including concrete mixes, precast armour units, and supplied rock, and ensure compliance with codal requirements.
• Coordinate with contractors, conduct inspections, issue go‑ahead decisions or non‑compliance reports, and verify correct placement of armour units.
• Visit quarries, oversee testing, and confirm proper profiling of under‑layers for armour placement.
• Maintain accurate records of lines, levels, and progress, and support defect remediation during the liability period.

Required profile

• Registered civil engineer with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 6 years in ports or marine construction.
• Proven experience on at least two breakwater projects of similar scope.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
