Vehicle Inspector

About the role

The Vehicle Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all vehicle repairs meet the highest quality standards. Working in a maintenance shop or warehouse environment, the role supports the Chief Mechanic by providing rigorous quality control and technical oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect all vehicle repairs and document any rejected work to maintain quality control.
• Monitor technician performance, conduct toolbox inspections, and report deficiencies to the Chief Mechanic.
• Perform Limited Technical Inspections (LTI) on assigned vehicles, determining causes of malfunctions, required parts, and repair costs.
• Assist in on‑the‑job training, certify mechanics, and provide technical guidance.
• Support mechanics with repairs, adjustments, and calibrations of transmissions, steering, braking, suspension, and other vehicle systems.
• Verify completeness and accuracy of maintenance forms, work orders, and parts requests.
• Ensure safe use of tools, PPE, and hazardous materials in accordance with SOPs.
• Research parts using Commercial Manuals, Technical Orders, and parts catalogs.
• Enter inspection data into the quality database and report safety equipment discrepancies.

• Use of technical manuals, diagrams, special tools, meters and test equipment
• Knowledge of manual and automatic transmissions, steering, braking, clutch, torque converter, axle, fuel, cooling and suspension systems
• Parts research using Commercial Manuals and Technical Orders
• Data entry into quality management databases
