Accountant - Oman Operations

About the role

The Accountant for Oman Operations reports to the Head of Finance and manages the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Accounting and Tax/VAT compliance for the Oman business. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting and compliance with company policies and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• General Ledger: prepare journal entries, accruals and reconciliations; perform month-end and year-end closing; maintain accurate records and support audits.
• Accounts Receivable: process customer invoices and receipts, reconcile customer accounts and monitor collections, review aging reports and follow up on overdue balances, calculate and maintain the Expected Credit Loss provision under IFRS.
• Accounts Payable: process supplier invoices and payments, reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies, ensure compliance with approval and payment procedures.
• Inventory: reconcile inventory records with the general ledger, take part in stock counts and valuation reviews, and maintain provisions for slow-moving, excess, obsolete or damaged inventory.
• Tax and VAT: prepare and submit VAT returns, reconcile tax accounts, keep supporting documentation and ensure compliance with Oman VAT and other tax regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 2-3 years of accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Good knowledge of IFRS and Oman VAT regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
