Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead the design, construction support, and long‑term monitoring of a dry‑stack tailings disposal facility in Oman. The role ensures geotechnical stability, compliance with regional and international standards, and the implementation of safe, sustainable practices in an arid climate.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical design and construction activities for the dry‑stack tailings facility.
• Monitor tailings stability, control contracts, and prevent pile failures or structural collapses.
• Ensure compliance with Oman environmental regulations and international standards such as GISTM.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for tailings management.
• Perform risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and contribute to emergency action plans.
• Prepare technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory submissions.
• Support budgeting, cost estimation, and strategic planning for geotechnical requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to operational staff on geotechnical best practices.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in mining or tailings projects.
• Strong knowledge of Oman environmental regulations and international compliance frameworks (e.g., GISTM).
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
