Civil Inspector – Power Plants (CCGT) – Oman

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Civil Inspector to oversee civil and structural works for a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant during construction and pre‑commissioning. The role ensures that all works comply with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements and relevant standards, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect foundations, pedestals, pipe racks, control building, cooling towers, chimneys, tanks, underground utilities, roads, pavements and ancillary structures.
• Verify compliance with IFC drawings, project specifications and codes such as ACI, ASTM, AISC, BS 8007, BS 8110 and Eurocodes.
• Monitor concrete works, earthworks, asphalt, waterproofing, structural steel erection, painting/coating, precast and piling activities.
• Review and approve material deliveries, coordinate laboratory testing and ensure proper traceability.
• Maintain inspection records, RFI/WIR logs, daily reports, NCRs, CARs and punch lists.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineer, HSE teams and multi‑discipline stakeholders to resolve clashes and enforce HSE requirements.
• Track daily/weekly progress, flag risks and support readiness for commissioning.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Proven experience inspecting civil works on large‑scale power‑plant projects.
• Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, ASTM, AISC, BS, Eurocodes).
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC procedures, material testing and documentation.

Required skills

• Interpretation of IFC drawings and specifications.
• Concrete formwork, rebar fixing, embed plates, anchor bolts and grouting inspection.
• Earthwork compaction testing (Proctor, field density).
• Material testing: slump, compressive strength, trial mixes, FDT, plate load, rebar tensile/bend, weld NDT, coating DFT.
• Quality documentation: RFI, NCR, CAR, punch list management.
• HSE compliance, PTW, toolbox talks and temporary works inspection.
