Network L2 Engineer (Oman)

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Network L2 Engineer to provide second-level support for our IT infrastructure in Oman. The role focuses on troubleshooting escalated network incidents, configuring and maintaining LAN, WAN and VPN environments, and ensuring network stability and security.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L2 support for escalated network incidents from L1 teams.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs.
• Manage VLANs, WAN links and SD-WAN deployments.
• Implement and monitor network security policies, including firewalls, IPsec tunnels and VPNs.
• Conduct network performance analysis and optimise bandwidth usage.
• Document configurations, incidents and resolutions; keep network topology diagrams up to date.
• Collaborate with L3 engineers on complex projects and escalations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in network support or engineering.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+ or Security+ are preferred.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Fortinet or Palo Alto devices.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
• Experience with SD-WAN, VPN and IPsec technologies.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Nagios or PRTG.
