Network Security Analyst (Level 1) – Oman

About the role

The Network Security L1 position supports the Security Operations Center (SOC) in Oman by monitoring, analysing and responding to security events. This entry‑level role is ideal for recent graduates or candidates with up to two years of experience in networking or IT support who are eager to develop a career in cybersecurity.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse security alerts and logs from the SOC to identify potential threats.
• Perform initial incident triage and escalate incidents to L2/L3 teams as needed.
• Respond to security incidents such as malware detection, unauthorized access attempts and suspicious network activity.
• Review firewall logs, assist in rule management and monitor VPN, endpoint security and network access control systems.
• Maintain incident records, documentation and perform routine security health checks.
• Support vulnerability scans and carry out basic remediation activities.
• Follow established SOPs and security policies while working in a 24x7 shift environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Cybersecurity or a related field, or equivalent certifications (CompTIA Security+, CCNA, CEH).
• 0–2 years of experience in network support, SOC, or IT help‑desk; fresh graduates with strong fundamentals are welcome.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail and good communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a 24x7 shift schedule and to continuously learn in the cybersecurity field.

Required skills

• TCP/IP networking and OSI model knowledge.
• Firewalls (Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
• VPN technologies and common network protocols.
• SIEM platforms such as Splunk, IBM QRadar and Microsoft Sentinel.
• IDS/IPS systems.
• Antivirus and endpoint protection tools (CrowdStrike, Symantec, Defender, Trelix).
• Familiarity with common cyber threats (phishing, DDoS, malware).
• Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios).
