Principal – Economics and Planning

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Economics and Planning professional to lead economic evaluations and support business planning for our operated assets in Muscat. The role will serve as the subject‑matter expert, providing analysis, scenario modelling and stakeholder reporting to drive value‑creating decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct economic viability assessments using NPV, IRR, MIRR, profitability index and payback period models.
• Incorporate fiscal structures such as production sharing contracts, cost‑recovery and profit‑share arrangements into analyses.
• Support asset teams with operational economics assessments for new wells, workovers and business plans.
• Lead and present sensitivity analyses during stage‑gate review sessions.
• Evaluate asset development plans, growth proposals and ensure alignment with joint‑operating agreements and economic screening criteria.
• Participate in multidisciplinary reviews of expenditures, performance and economic recovery optimisation.
• Coordinate the annual operated assets business planning cycle, review budgets, and provide feedback before management reviews.
• Track and report KPIs, analyse OPEX, CAPEX, lifting costs and production forecasts, and prepare regular performance reports.
• Represent the economics function in committee meetings with government and JV partners.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in economic evaluation and financial modelling for oil‑and‑gas projects.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret scenario‑based assessments.
• Experience supporting business planning, KPI monitoring and stakeholder communication.
