Software Engineer – Backend Development

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join eBid.om’s online auction platform team in Masqat, Oman. You will design, develop, test and maintain backend features that ensure high performance, reliability and security for our users.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain back‑end services and RESTful APIs.
• Optimize database interactions and ensure scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user‑focused solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement of platform architecture and development practices.

Required profile

• Fresh graduate with a strong foundation in Computer Science, algorithms, data structures and systems design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with security best practices, performance optimization and scalability in web applications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, C#, Python, JavaScript).
• Hands‑on experience with back‑end web development, RESTful APIs and server‑side frameworks.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Solid understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
