Assistant Pastry Chef – Muscat

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Pastry Chef to support the Pastry Chef in preparing high‑quality pastries, desserts, cakes, and baked products. The successful candidate will assist with daily kitchen operations while maintaining excellent standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Pastry Chef in preparing pastries, cakes, desserts, breads, and other baked products.
• Measure and prepare ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements.
• Support decorating, plating, and presentation of desserts and pastries.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Monitor ingredient stocks and report shortages to the Pastry Chef.
• Properly store ingredients and finished products to preserve freshness and quality.
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely and correctly.
• Assist in developing and testing new products when required.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a pastry kitchen, bakery, hotel, restaurant, or catering environment.
• Knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Attention to detail with a focus on quality and presentation.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Culinary or pastry‑related certification is an advantage.
