Chief Investment Officer (CIO) – Institutional Asset Management

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the investment function of a newly‑established institutional asset‑management platform in Muscat, Oman. Reporting to the CEO, the CIO will shape the firm’s investment philosophy, build a high‑performing team and drive the growth of assets from USD 500 million to over USD 1 billion.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the long‑term investment philosophy, strategic asset allocation and multi‑asset portfolio construction across public and private markets.
• Lead public‑market investments (equities, fixed income, liquid assets), overseeing research, portfolio construction and performance monitoring.
• Source, evaluate and execute private‑equity, direct and co‑investment opportunities, managing due diligence, valuation, financial modelling and transaction structuring.
• Establish investment policies, governance frameworks and chair Investment Committee meetings, presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build, mentor and manage a high‑performing investment team, fostering a culture of discipline, research excellence and risk‑adjusted performance.
• Collaborate with the CEO and Finance Director on capital allocation, strategic initiatives and stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Proven senior investment leadership experience within institutional asset‑management or large family‑office environments.
• Track record of building or scaling investment platforms and delivering sustainable, long‑term risk‑adjusted returns.
• Deep knowledge of both public and private markets, strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction.
• Strong governance and risk‑management expertise, with experience chairing investment committees.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working closely with CEOs, finance leaders and external partners.
