Chief Investment Officer (CIO) – Institutional Investment Platform

About the role

We are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Chief Investment Officer (CIO) on behalf of a newly established institutional investment platform based in Muscat, Oman. The organisation is evolving from a successful private family office into a regulated asset management business with approximately USD 500 million in assets under management and ambitious plans to exceed USD 1 billion in the coming years.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the firm’s long‑term investment philosophy, strategic asset allocation, and multi‑asset portfolio construction across public and private markets.
• Lead investments in listed equities, fixed income, and other liquid assets, overseeing research, portfolio construction and performance monitoring.
• Source, evaluate and execute private equity, direct and co‑investment opportunities, leading due diligence, valuation and transaction structuring.
• Establish investment policies, governance frameworks and chair Investment Committee meetings, presenting recommendations to senior leadership.
• Build, mentor and lead a high‑performing investment team while fostering a collaborative, performance‑driven culture.
• Partner with the CEO and Finance Director on capital allocation, strategic initiatives and stakeholder relationships with banks, fund managers and institutional investors.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in a family office, sovereign wealth fund, institutional asset manager, pension fund, private equity firm or similar investment business.
• Proven track record managing multi‑asset portfolios across public and private markets and building or transforming institutional investment platforms.
• Board‑level or Investment Committee experience with strong international exposure.
