Electrical Engineer - Rail Passenger Station Project

About the role

An experienced Electrical Engineer is sought for a rail passenger station project in Oman. The engineer supervises and coordinates electrical installation works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards and HSE requirements. A background in electrical engineering within building construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in railway stations, transportation facilities or large public buildings, is ideal.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor electrical installation works at rail passenger stations against approved drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Coordinate installation, testing and commissioning of power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing and lightning protection.
• Oversee low-voltage systems such as fire alarm, CCTV, access control and public address where applicable.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements and technical documents.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, mechanical and other engineering teams to resolve technical issues and avoid conflicts.
• Monitor subcontractors and ensure works follow approved method statements and inspection and test plans.
• Conduct site inspections, identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions with the QA/QC team.
• Support testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover, and prepare daily reports and progress documentation.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, project specifications, HSE requirements and railway project standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within building construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in rail passenger stations, railway infrastructure, metro stations, airports or large public buildings highly preferred.
• Preferred: main contractor experience, hands-on site execution and installation supervision, ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and meet tight deadlines, willingness to work at the project site in Oman.

Required skills

• Electrical power distribution, lighting, emergency power, earthing and lightning protection.
• Familiarity with ELV systems and MEP coordination.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office; knowledge of electrical design or coordination software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning, quality control and site execution procedures.
