Engineering Supervisor

About the role

The Engineering Supervisor will lead the hotel’s engineering team, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and utility systems operate efficiently, safely and in line with the brand standards. This role combines hands‑on technical work with people management and continuous improvement of maintenance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Build teamwork, train staff to meet hotel standards and recognise outstanding performance.
• Schedule employees according to business needs and manage performance fairly.
• Participate in departmental problem‑solving meetings and communicate professionally with guests, suppliers and colleagues.
• Maintain a clean, tidy appearance and adhere to grooming standards.
• Supervise and perform maintenance, repair, installation and operation of steam, water, sewer, air, gas, laundry, kitchen, heating plant, air‑conditioning and ventilation systems.
• Oversee maintenance of trucks, lawn‑mowers, automotive and power‑drive equipment.
• Monitor contractors on utility projects and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Supervise metal‑parts machining (lathe, milling, shaper, drill press) and metal fabrication using welding equipment.
• Plan, schedule and allocate work, develop preventive‑maintenance programmes and prepare progress reports.
• Train new team members and recommend personnel actions such as hiring, appraisals and promotions.

Required profile

• Understanding of hotel vision, brand personality and employee handbook.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing responsibilities and schedules.
• Reliability, punctuality and awareness of emergency procedures.
• Ability to supervise contractors and manage a diverse technical team.
