Expert LP & APS Modelling – Refinery Optimization

About the role

The Expert LP & APS Modelling will maintain, develop and continuously improve the refinery linear programming (LP) and Aspen Petroleum Scheduler (APS) models. The role supports decision‑making, refinery optimization and margin maximisation through accurate modelling, plan‑versus‑actual analysis and automation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and validate the refinery LP model to reflect configuration, process performance, constraints and economic drivers.
• Develop and optimise the APS scheduling model, incorporating logistics, inventory and scheduling limits.
• Coordinate monthly model update cycles, ensuring timely input validation and delivery.
• Perform plan‑versus‑actual analyses, identify gaps and implement corrective improvements.
• Manage the crude assay database, support feedstock flexibility studies and optimisation scenarios.
• Develop reporting dashboards, visualisation tools and automated solutions for planning and scheduling.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in production planning, refinery optimisation and model development.
• Proven stakeholder management across Production Planning, Operations, Process Engineering and Commercial functions.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aspen PIMS (or equivalent refinery optimisation software).
• Proficiency with Aspen Petroleum Scheduler (APS) or equivalent scheduling software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications for data analysis.
• Experience in reporting automation, dashboard development and digitalisation initiatives.
• Crude assay management and refinery economics knowledge.
