Field Operator Internship – Process Monitoring

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Field Operator Intern to support the operation and monitoring of process equipment in an oil & gas environment. The role provides hands‑on exposure to plant start‑ups, shutdowns, and routine checks while working closely with the Control Room Operator and supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in operating and monitoring process equipment, ensuring safety standards are met.
• Record equipment parameters and report any abnormalities to the Control Room Operator or supervisors.
• Support equipment start‑ups, shutdowns, pressurising and depressurising of pipelines as directed.
• Check pressure, temperature and level gauges regularly and communicate irregularities.
• Follow QHSE procedures (LOTO, PTW, TBT, JHA) and document tasks accurately.
• Participate in training, operational reviews and provide basic feedback.
• Conduct routine operational and maintenance checks under supervision.
• Assist in equipment isolation, draining and decontamination for maintenance.
• Hand over shift information clearly and report unsafe conditions.
• Handle chemicals, lubricants and coolants safely, collect samples as required.

Required profile

• Technical degree in Industrial Processes, Chemical, Petroleum or related field.
• 0‑2 years of experience or internship in a similar oil & gas role.
• Familiarity with plant equipment, PFDs, P&IDs, cause‑and‑effect matrices and fire‑gas systems.
• Basic understanding of maintenance management systems and work‑order processes.
• Good command of English (written and spoken); Arabic is a plus.
• Motivated team player able to work in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
