Principal Electrical Engineer

About the role

SGS is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead all activities related to electrical systems, equipment, and processes across its operations. The role combines technical leadership with strategic planning to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with design codes and legal requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee electrical engineering activities for capital projects, plant expansions, and brownfield modifications from concept to commissioning.
• Develop and manage departmental strategies, long‑term plans, and Capex/Opex budgets aligned with corporate objectives.
• Drive seamless communication between senior leadership, team members, and other departments.
• Build and maintain a high‑performing team culture, set clear goals, and provide regular performance feedback.
• Guide team members on operational and functional matters, resolve grievances, and promote continuous upskilling.
• Recommend best practices for operation and maintenance of electrical systems and ensure uninterrupted plant operation.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading electrical engineering teams in industrial or production environments.
• Strong understanding of design codes, HSSE standards, and legal compliance for electrical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to develop strategic plans and manage large budgets.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to coordinate across functions.
