Principal Engineer - Services Planning

About the role

The Principal Engineer – Services Planning leads the design and optimisation of wired and wireless subscriber services. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Network Design and Planning, this role shapes strategic road‑maps, integrates new technologies and ensures high‑quality customer experiences across the network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop short‑ and long‑term strategic road‑maps, including resource and investment planning.
• Design robust, future‑proof architectures for all network aspects, establishing design standards, documentation and configuration guidelines.
• Create design guidelines for services such as PCRF/PCEF, DPI, OTT‑TV, AAA, CPE selection (ONT, STB), IoT and other IP‑based services.
• Define and document SLAs for internal and external performance tracking.
• Ensure network designs meet performance, cost‑effectiveness and SLA requirements.
• Evaluate alternative technologies and architectures, performing technical, cost and CAPEX analyses.
• Collaborate closely with IP Core, Transport, Access teams and external vendors to implement solutions.

• Strategic thinker with up‑to‑date knowledge of technological advances in telecom.
• Excellent analytical skills for cost, CAPEX and performance assessments.
• Ability to work across multiple functional teams and with external partners.

Required skills

• IPv4 and IPv6 routing design and migration.
• Network architecture and design standards.
• Service design for PCRF/PCEF, DPI, OTT‑TV, AAA.
• CPE selection expertise (ONT, STB).
• IoT and IP‑based service integration.
• SLAs definition and performance measurement.
• Technical and cost analysis, CAPEX planning.
