About the role

The Principal Reservoir Engineer provides strategic leadership and technical authority for reservoir evaluation, tight‑gas development and production optimization. Reporting to senior subsurface management, the role ensures that all engineering products, tools and workflows meet Shell standards and operational objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the tight‑gas subject‑matter expert, guiding reservoir characterization, stimulation design and production forecasting.
  • Serve as Technical Authority (TA2) for reservoir engineering, enforcing compliance with Shell technical standards.
  • Define, deploy and continuously improve fit‑for‑purpose workflows, tools and best practices across assets.
  • Provide expert input on well design, fracture diagnostics and production surveillance.
  • Lead hydrocarbon resource estimation, classification and reporting in line with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop integrated production and injection forecasts with clear uncertainty ranges.
  • Deliver high‑quality reservoir simulation models, calibrate them to field performance and assess formation and pore pressure risks.
  • Ensure HSSE‑critical activities such as pore‑pressure and H₂S prediction are performed safely and in compliance with life‑saving rules.
  • Support asset development strategies, investment cases and JV governance through robust technical inputs.
  • Lead, coach and develop reservoir engineering talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Required profile

  • Extensive experience in reservoir engineering, preferably in tight‑gas environments.
  • Proven track record as a technical authority, delivering compliant engineering solutions.
  • Strong understanding of HSSE requirements and risk management in oil and gas operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
