Project Operations Specialist - Project Logistics

About the role

The Project Logistics Operations Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing breakbulk, heavy lift, oversized and project cargo shipments. The role covers end-to-end transportation operations, ensuring compliance with client requirements, carrier regulations, port procedures and local transportation laws while delivering cost-effective and safe logistics solutions. The position is based in Oman.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage breakbulk, heavy lift, out-of-gauge (OOG) and project cargo shipments from origin to destination.
• Arrange multimodal transportation including ocean freight, road transport, barging, rail and air freight when required.
• Liaise with shipping lines, vessel operators, port authorities, terminals, customs authorities, transport providers and surveyors.
• Monitor shipment progress and give proactive updates to customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring milestones are met on time.
• Review cargo specifications, technical drawings and transportation requirements; conduct route surveys and feasibility studies for oversized cargo.
• Develop transportation methodologies, lifting plans, stowage concepts and risk assessments.
• Coordinate crane operations, SPMT movements, heavy lift equipment and port handling activities.
• Support project mobilization and execution at load and discharge ports, and plan, manage and implement all project cargo transportation by road, sea and air for imports and exports to and from Oman.
• Obtain quotes from transport companies, shipping lines, airlines and other service providers, as well as for equipment needed to move project cargo.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a relevant field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in Project Logistics Operations within freight forwarding.
• Strong knowledge of project cargo, breakbulk, heavy lift and OOG logistics operations.

Required skills

• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, and strong written and oral communication, including negotiation and formal presentations.
• Ability to read and interpret complex regulations and procedures, and to handle customer inquiries and complaints.
• Working knowledge of IT technical disciplines such as systems architecture, operating systems, programming environments and databases.
• Strategic planning, project planning and execution, and solving critical issues under tight deadlines.
• Organization, time management and prioritization across multiple projects.
