Resident Engineer

About the role

Mace is seeking a Resident Engineer to act as the on‑site representative for a large‑scale port development programme. The role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that construction works meet design, contractual and technical standards, and delivering a strategic infrastructure asset that supports regional economic diversification.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Project Management Consultant (PMC) on‑site with full authority for delivery and coordination.
• Lead day‑to‑day supervision of works, ensuring compliance with contract, design and technical specifications.
• Manage site teams, quality assurance processes and progress monitoring.
• Coordinate contractors, stakeholders and local authorities to keep the programme on schedule.
• Chair progress meetings and provide timely reporting and communications.
• Oversee site instructions, contractual correspondence and interface with contract specialists.
• Monitor performance, resolve technical and commercial issues, and drive timely delivery.
• Manage cost control, budgeting, certifications and payment recommendations.
• Lead completion, handover, defect liability processes and final account settlement.
• Support net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing associated emissions during delivery.

Required profile

• Registered civil engineer (or equivalent) with a degree in Civil Engineering.
• 20+ years of experience, including at least 10 years on marine works such as jetties, breakwaters and port construction.
• Proven experience on three or more port projects valued at USD 100 M+.
• Strong track record in site‑based delivery, supervision and contract compliance.
• Consultancy background with effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
