About the role
The RTFI Technician is responsible for interpreting radiographic films and digital images of welded joints and fabricated components. This role ensures compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and international codes, supporting quality assurance throughout the fabrication process.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret radiographic films and digital images of welds, piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural components.
- Identify weld discontinuities such as porosity, slag inclusions, lack of fusion, cracks, undercuts, and other defects.
- Verify film quality, density, sensitivity, and image quality indicators (IQI) against acceptance criteria.
- Prepare detailed RT film interpretation reports and maintain inspection records.
- Coordinate with QA/QC engineers, welding inspectors, and production teams for repair and re‑inspection.
- Maintain traceability of welds, films, and reports; manage film storage, indexing, and retrieval systems.
- Participate in client and third‑party inspections and assist in preparing manufacturing record books and quality dossiers.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements related to NDT operations.
Required profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, Metallurgy or related field (or extensive RT experience with higher secondary qualification).
- Valid RT Level II certification (ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A, ISO 9712, PCN or equivalent).
- 5–8 years of NDT and RT film interpretation experience, including at least 3 years in offshore oil & gas, modular fabrication, shipyard, EPC or heavy engineering projects.
- Familiarity with ASME Section V, ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, AWS D1.1, API codes and related quality plans.
