Senior 5 Axis Turn-Mill Machinist

About the role

ATMTA is building a High Precision Training, Research, Development and Production Centre for the energy sector in Muscat. We are looking for a senior 5‑axis turn‑mill machinist to run DMG MORI turn‑mill machines and produce high‑value rotational components for oil and gas applications in a single‑setup, high‑precision environment.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, prove out and operate 5‑axis DMG MORI turn‑mill machines (NTX, CTX TC) and equivalent equipment such as Mazak Integrex, Okuma Multus or WFL Millturn.
• Machine rotational oil‑and‑gas components (valve stems, mandrels, bushings, wellhead spools) from bar to finished part in one setup.
• Work with exotic alloys (Inconel, super duplex, 17‑4 PH) to micron‑level tolerances, maintaining API Q1 traceability and compliance with API 6A/6D, ASME B16.34 and ASTM material specifications.
• Prove out programs, set tooling and offsets, optimise cycle time and tool life, and troubleshoot chatter, tool wear and thermal effects.
• Drive setup reduction, continuous improvement and mentor apprentice machinists.

Required profile

• Extensive experience setting up, proving out and running multitasking turn‑mill machines in production.
• Expertise with DMG MORI turn‑mill controls (CELOS or compatible); familiarity with Mazak, Okuma or WFL equivalents is a plus.
• Proven ability to machine difficult alloys to micron tolerances and interpret GD&T drawings.
• Knowledge of API, ASME and ASTM standards with full material traceability.
• Apprenticeship qualification or equivalent with a strong precision track record.
• Fluent English.
