Senior Cost Estimation & Cost Control Expert

About the role

The role owns accurate estimation, baselining and effective control of CAPEX and OPEX for renewable energy projects from development through construction and handover. It ensures cost predictability, transparency and compliance with budgets, contracts and lender reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare stage‑appropriate capital cost estimates (AACE Class 5‑3) for solar, wind, battery storage and hybrid projects, including EPC, OEM, balance of plant, grid interconnection and indirect costs.
• Develop and maintain cost baselines, budgets and a cost database for benchmarking across technologies and geographies.
• Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets, track variances, conduct monthly cost forecasting and produce cost‑to‑complete forecasts using earned value management.
• Validate contractor invoices, manage change orders, verify physical progress and support claim preparation.
• Interface with finance, procurement, legal and engineering teams to align financial tracking with contracts and technical scope.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
• 8+ years of cost estimation and control experience, at least 5 years on utility‑scale renewable energy projects.
• Proven hands‑on experience delivering at least one project from pre‑financial‑close estimate to construction out‑turn cost.
• Strong analytical, numerical and reporting skills; fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel for cost modelling and sensitivity analysis.
• Project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• ERP cost modules (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Power BI dashboard creation.
• Knowledge of EPC contracts, FIDIC (Silver/Yellow Book) and earned value management.
