Senior Education Counsellor - Canada & USA

About the role

IDP, a global leader in international education services operating in more than 50 countries, is hiring a Senior Education Counsellor for its Canada and USA business. The counsellor guides international students toward the institution that best fits their learning and career goals, giving advice on study options, the local education system and culture, helping with applications and enrolments, and promoting IDP products and services.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel prospective students to identify suitable courses and institutions, advise on admissions requirements and processes, and help them build a shortlist of applications.
• Support students through admissions, visa and pre-departure processes, and process and submit applications to institutions in a timely way.
• Generate leads from schools, universities, companies and scholarship bodies, and maintain regular contact with key accounts.
• Build relationships with education institution staff and network counsellors, and attend client briefings, workshops and institution visits.
• Help organise major promotional events such as interview programs and exhibitions, and give input on marketing activities.
• Follow up with students and institutions to complete enrolments, and share information with colleagues and the line manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Fluent in English; experience of education counselling.
• Experience in a sales-driven environment focused on individual and team targets, and work or study experience in a relevant destination country.
• Knowledge of education institutions, admission processes, immigration requirements and their international operations.

Required skills

• Strong IT skills with Microsoft Office and CRM systems, including hands-on experience with a CRM.
• Excellent communication, planning and relationship-building skills.
