Senior Quality Testing Engineer

About the role

ATMTA is building a high‑precision R&D and production centre for the energy sector in Muscat. We are looking for a Senior Quality Testing Engineer to lead all non‑destructive and destructive testing activities for mission‑critical oil‑and‑gas components, ensuring material and weld integrity under extreme conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the testing laboratory end‑to‑end, covering both non‑destructive examination (NDE) and destructive/mechanical testing for welds, overlays and base material.
• Perform and supervise ultrasonic testing (including phased‑array and time‑of‑flight diffraction), radiographic testing (conventional and digital), magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and positive material identification in accordance with ASME Section V and API 6A/6D acceptance criteria.
• Conduct tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, bend, macro‑ and micro‑examination tests following ASTM A370, E8, E23, E18 and ASME Section IX standards.
• Run sour‑service and corrosion qualification tests such as NACE MR0175 hardness, ASTM A923 duplex integrity, ASTM G48 pitting, and HIC/SSC according to NACE TM0284 and TM0177.
• Write, qualify and maintain testing procedures and acceptance criteria; coordinate with welding, cladding and quality engineering teams.
• Maintain certifications (ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A, NAS 410 or ISO 9712 Level II/III), approve NDE procedures and oversee technician certification.
• Ensure laboratory equipment calibration, ISO 17025 accreditation and full traceability of records under API Q1.
• Develop apprentice technicians through structured on‑the‑job training and skill certification.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading testing functions in a production environment for pressure‑containing or critical fabrication.
• Current certification to ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A, NAS 410 or ISO 9712 at Level II or Level III, covering multiple NDE methods.
• Strong knowledge of ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant and PMI techniques; phased‑array and digital radiography preferred.
• Hands‑on expertise in tensile, Charpy impact, hardness, bend and macro/micro examinations.
• Familiarity with relevant standards (ASME, API, ASTM, NACE) and ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation.
