Senior SCADA Engineer – Muscat, Oman

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior SCADA Engineer to join a resident engineering team at the customer’s headquarters in Muscat. The role focuses on the design, implementation, maintenance and optimisation of SCADA and OT/IT infrastructure for critical utility and industrial projects in Oman.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain and troubleshoot SCADA platforms to ensure high availability.
• Develop, modify, test and commission PLC and HMI applications.
• Review and update electrical control drawings, P&IDs, network architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
• Manage Microsoft SQL Server databases, including performance tuning, backups and disaster recovery.
• Perform preventive maintenance, system upgrades and implement disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Configure and maintain OPC DA/UA servers, historians and data‑logging systems.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs, RTUs, field devices and third‑party systems.
• Support OT cybersecurity measures such as system hardening, patch management and access control.
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial OT networks (LAN/WAN, VLANs, switches, firewalls).
• Assist with testing, commissioning and on‑site deployment activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of hands‑on experience in SCADA, PLC/RTU and industrial automation.
• Proven experience in utilities, water, oil & gas or similar industrial sectors.
• Ability to work independently and meet customer requirements on‑site.

• Industrial protocols: OPC DA/UA, Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, IEC 60870‑5‑104, MQTT
• Industrial Ethernet and network configuration
• OT cybersecurity fundamentals (IEC 62443 knowledge is an advantage)
